Greetings Hardyston Hornets!
Welcome to a new year of school and an exciting year with the PTA! If you are new to the Hardyston School District, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to each and every one of you and I hope to see all of you get involved in our active PTA. To our “seasoned” Hardyston family, I know you are just as excited as I am to begin another eventful PTA year.
As I embark on my first “official” year as your PTA President, I am excited to continue the partnership I have established with parents, administration, our amazing teachers and wonderful staff to provide an excellent and fun learning experience for our children.
I encourage each and every one of you to become a part of our PTA family. The most important reason to join the PTA is for the benefit of our children. Though there are many advantages to becoming a PTA member:
• By becoming a PTA member; you’ll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on their education and the invaluable experience of being involved in school.
• By becoming a PTA volunteer; you’ll gain valuable experiences and personal confidence. It’s a great opportunity to put your skills and hobbies to good use, for a good cause.
• By getting involved; you’ll be helping to make positive changes in your child’s life and the lives of the children in our community.
PTA functions provide opportunities to get to know other parents and teachers. PTA meetings are a forum for exchanging ideas, making suggestions, and providing your input. We encourage you to attend meetings every month. Our school administrators do their best to attend our PTA meetings to speak about what’s going on in our schools and to answer any questions you may have for them.
We NEED our volunteers; you are an essential part of our PTA! A large chunk of PTA funds are used for the programs and events that enhance our children’s learning experience. Which is why we need to have several fundraisers throughout the year and we need the help of our volunteers to make them a success! I welcome all of your suggestions and ideas; the PTA appreciates your help in any way. I have attached a list of all the wonderful things your PTA does for the Hardyston District, as well as our meeting schedule. I am always available and I love hearing from you. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns or suggestions.
Please be sure to check our PTA website www.hardystonpta.org and our Facebook page for news, updates and announcements. I hope to see you at our PTA meetings on the first Wednesday of every month throughout the year!
Thank you! Here’s to a great year!
Peggy Van Ginneken,
President, Hardyston Twp. PTA
My name is Peggy Van Ginneken and I am honored to be serving as the newly appointed Hardyston Twp PTA President. It is a pleasure to serve in a district that has such a wonderful group of teachers, dedicated parents, and terrific children!
To the PTA Executive board, committee chair leaders and all of our volunteers, I look forward to working with all of you the remainder of this school year. I know it will be great fun because of the dedicated and amazing volunteers we have on our PTA. The purpose of the PTA, first and foremost, is to support our students. In addition, it supports the faculty, staff, parents, and the local community. “Every Child-One Voice” is the National PTA motto and the PTA is one of the strongest voices in the educational process that directly supports our children and school.
An effective and successful PTA requires support and involvement of the parents and guardians of our students. It is vital. Your first opportunity to show support is to become a member of the Hardyston Twp PTA. When you become a member of the PTA, you support your school by helping to provide funds which make it possible for us to financially support the school and our students.
The second way to show your support is to participate in the numerous exciting events and programs that we have planned throughout the year. You may choose to be a committee chair, committee member, or volunteer. Whatever level of participation you choose; your time and involvement will be greatly appreciated. Many parents feel that they cannot participate in the PTA because they’re unable to attend meetings or be at school during the day. Whether you have 30 minutes or a couple of hours in or outside of school hours; your ideas, your time, and your talents are truly needed. There are endless possibilities in ways you can help. We promise that the time you give to the PTA and the school will be worth your while—and fun! I encourage you to click “2014 PTA Membership Packet”. Look through it to see what peaks your interest. If you see events you would like to be involved in; print it, fill it out and send it to the middle school or elementary school with your $5 membership fee (if you have not joined already). Please consider volunteering, it really does make a difference in the lives of all our children, and the children love to see their parents/grandparents participating at school!
I strongly urge you to attend our meetings to raise your concerns and contribute your ideas and talents to better our PTA. Our general meetings are usually held on the first Wednesday, every other month, at 6:30 pm. We will be alternating between the MS Library and the ES All Purpose Room. All meeting dates and activities will be posted regularly:
• On the PTA school bulletin board
• On the PTA Website
• In the school calendar
• On our Facebook page: Hardyston Twp PTA. (Make sure you see the PTA logo when you search).
Please contact me anytime at 973.459.0874 about PTA events and activities. I am here to assist you in any way that I can. I hold this opportunity in high regard and I look forward to meeting and working with each of you! We look forward to seeing you at our next PTA meeting, March 4th, 2015, 6:30pm at the Elementary School!
